Happy 85th Birthday to my idol, Audrey Hepburn. Audrey was a British actress, humanitarian and a film & fashion icon and her legacy has sustained long after her death. She starred in productions during Hollywood’s golden era and is ranked as the third greatest female screen legend in the history of American cinema. She stands as one of the few entertainers who have won Academy, Emmy, Grammy, Tony and BAFTA Awards. She received the BAFTA Lifetime Achievement Award after she won a record three BAFTA Awards for Best British Actress in a Leading Role.

Audrey has also earned her place in the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame and she is regarded to be the most naturally beautiful woman of all time. Audrey’s lifelong friend, Hubert de Givenchy, is credited for creating her style which redefined glamour and is still popular among women today. Fashion experts say that Hepburn’s longevity as a style icon results from her sticking with a look that suited her; clean lines, bold accessories, minimalist palette.

She appeared in fewer films as her life went on, devoting much of her later life to UNICEF. She worked in disadvantaged communities in Africa, South America and Asia between 1988 and 1992. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambasssador in December 1992. Sadly, one month later Audrey died of appendiceal cancer at the age of 63.
