When summer comes around, it can be easy to forget about a good skincare regime. In winter, we seem to automatically take better care of ourselves, because, in a lot of ways, we feel worse. Our skin is drier, we are more likely to be ill and feel more run down. It is important to keep up with looking after ourselves, all over summer too, though. We tend to be outdoors a lot more in summer, so we have to make sure we are taking care of yourself, particularly our skin. If not, sun damage can cause irreversible damage like wrinkles, premature aging and sun marks.
Make Sure That You Use Sunscreen
As I have just mentioned, sun damage can wreak havoc on your skin. It is important to wear plenty of sunscreen in the summer months; even on cloudy days. The sun is at its brightest and can cause the most damage during these months. You need to be careful about choosing the right kind of sunscreen for your skin type, though. For example, if you tend to have oily skin, it is a good idea to not use an SPF that is too high; no more than SPF 30. Any higher and it can load your skin with more oil. Alternatively, you should look for a sunscreen specific for oily skin. You don’t want one that will clog your pores.
Protect Yourself When It Is Hot
You should also think about using sunglasses that have UV protection and wearing a hat when you are out and about. You will benefit a lot from having shade on your head and face when it is bright and hot. Clothing is also a protection for your skin. So wear fabrics that are light and breathable when it is hot. You don’t want to expose too much skin when you are trying to take care of your skin.
Take Care of Your Pearly-Whites!
One sure fire way of being healthy is to have good oral health. A good routine for your teeth is just as important in summer as it is in winter. You are likely to be drinking a lot more and perhaps having more things like ice creams and ice lollies. A lot of these things can be filled with sugar and so can cause problems for your teeth. So if you are drinking sugary drinks, it is a better idea to drink them through a straw. It is also a good idea to chew sugar-free gum in between meals or after having a snack like an ice cream. Make sure that you have a dental check up too. These need to be regularly to keep on top of the health of your teeth. Browse Monrovia Family Dentistry for more information about dental check ups.
Drink Plenty of Water
When it is hot, we sweat more and are more likely to become dehydrated. If we are exercising in the heat, we need to consume even more. Aiming for around 3 litres a day is a great amount to keep you hydrated. You will have more energy if you do so. It will help your skin to look lovely and clear too.
